Susan Hunter felt a surge of anger that seemed to start in her toes and work its way up her entire body, and it was all directed at the woman standing between the two headstones, obviously chatting to the occupants of the graves, even having a laugh with them.

She recognised her, although had no idea who she was, beyond her being the woman in the café at the antiques centre. Susan decided not to leave the safety of her car, but just to wait and see what happened – she could hardly go and make her first visit to Dave Forrester while another woman was placing flowers on his grave. She took a quick glance at her petrol gauge, saw there was almost half a tankful, and decided she would follow the woman and find out who she was. Maybe she was the reason Dave hadn’t been particularly bothered when she had broken the news that she had to go to live in Australia. This woman seemed to care about him, it was a proper conversation she was having with two dead people.
